Consistently ranked in the top 100 of ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, our markets are diverse and include transportation, energy, water/wastewater, commercial development, industry, healthcare, education and government.  We recruit top talent and are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Professional to lead our team in Wilmington, North Carolina.



Position Overview:

The Senior Environmental Professional will perform and manage technical environmental projects supported by a dedicated team for a diverse client base of manufacturing, education, municipal, retail and developer projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success as an industry leader in providing environmental services, prospecting and scheduling face-to-face meetings with key decision makers and influencers within the Wilmington area A/E/C, manufacturing, education, municipal, and/or health-care industries resulting in qualified opportunities. Current involvement and visibility within Wilmington area professional organizations, industry associations, civic groups and/or local associations for economic and business growth is desired.  We are looking for an individual that is up for the challenge of growing Environmental Services in Wilmington and across Eastern North Carolina.  Professional experience should include, but not be limited to, having demonstrated knowledge of various aspects of environmental permitting and regulatory compliance (air, hazardous waste, solid waste, stormwater, and process water) for commercial, municipal, and industrial clients.  Principal responsibilities include management of routine to complex environmental projects for a variety of industrial, municipal, and commercial clients. Qualified candidates should have demonstrated established relationships with multiple state and federal regulatory agencies.




  • Serve as a key leader in driving the strategic growth of S&ME's Wilmington market for Environmental Services;
  • Manage the technical, financial, and client relationship aspects of a variety of environmental projects in the Wilmington market;
  • Work directly with clients to understand business needs and deliver solutions;
  • Show a commitment to providing technical excellence and profitable project management;
  • Collaborate with S&ME's Environmental Client Development Leader to guide the local growth plan, ensuring consistency in market strategy, client outreach and promotion of S&ME services;
  • Work with Environmental Group Leader to build a thriving team of mid-level and junior level professionals.




  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, geology, or related professional degree;
  • 10+ years' experience in Architecture/Engineering/Environment/Construction client and project management, marketing and business development required;
  • Proven track record of project management excellence in leadership, meeting client requirements, client relationship management and achieving goals;
  • In-depth knowledge of State and Federal regulatory programs related to industrial and manufacturing facilities, solid waste, and transportation;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for client contact and technical report preparation;
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple project assignments;
  • Ability to work in a team environment with excellent motivational skills;
  • Ability to manage and mentor other junior level scientists in the development of projects.



This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience.
