Position:  Geotechnical Project Engineer

S&ME is an employee-owned engineering firm that provides civil, geotechnical, environmental, planning, landscape architecture, survey and construction services. Consistently ranked in the top 100 of ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, our markets are diverse and include transportation, energy, water/wastewater, commercial development, industry, healthcare, education, and government. We recruit top talent and are currently seeking a full-time Geotechnical Project Engineer for our Duluth or Kennesaw, Georgia (Atlanta area) locations.  This individual will serve as the project engineer for all aspects of geotechnical exploration and design on projects ranging from $5,000 to $500,000.  Responsibilities will include coordination and performance of field geotechnical testing and construction observation, coordination of laboratory testing, performance of geotechnical engineering analyses, and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and design documents.  Depending on the candidate's experience, additional responsibilities may include client management, business development, technical QA of reports/documents, and mentoring of staff.



Qualified candidates must have proficient verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to work as a team player. 




  • BS in Civil or Geological Engineering required, MS with concentration in Geotechnical preferred;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia, or ability to obtain license within 6 months;
  • 4 to 12 years of geotechnical engineering work experience, GDOT project experience is a plus;
  • Ability to execute technical aspects of a wide range of projects including transportation, power, heavy industrial, commercial, and retail projects.



This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program.
