Consistently ranked in the top 100 of ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, our markets are diverse and include transportation, energy, water/wastewater, commercial development, industry, healthcare, education and government. We recruit top talent and are currently seeking a full-time Metals Technician to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina.

 

 

This position involves the visual inspection of structural steel, including bolted and welded connections, and the ability to perform non-destructive testing. Other responsibilities include coordinating testing assignments on various projections, maintaining testing equipment, report preparation and field work including safely climbing steel structures like buildings, cell phone towers and water tanks to heights in excess of 200 feet.  Overtime hours, evenings, and weekend work may be required to fulfill project needs during periods of peak workload.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training in Non-Destructive Metals Testing Services preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in metals testing required;
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Industrial Radiographer status, required;
  • ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method, required;
  • ICC Bolting certification preferred;
  • Level II for UT, PT, MT certifications preferred;
  • ICC Certification in Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel Inspection preferred;
  • NDT and Radiation training, required;
  • Fluent understanding to read structural engineering prints and steel fabrication shop drawings, required;
  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work with environmental exposures in a safe manner;

 

 

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program.
