Position: Environmental Project Manager

S&ME, Inc., a leading design, engineering, environmental and multi-disciplined professional services firm that responds to their clients with innovative, sustainable solutions, is seeking a full-time, experienced, Environmental Project Manager to support our environmental service line with a focus on transportation projects in our New Albany, Indiana office. The preferred candidate will have environmental permitting/compliance and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) experience for Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) projects as well as industrial, commercial, or municipal clients. INDOT environmental prequalification/training for NEPA documentation and/or other environmental services is preferred. Knowledge of state and federal regulatory programs and experience working with these programs in Indiana is critical. A strong working relationship with INDOT and environmental regulatory agencies in Indiana is desired. This position may also involve projects located throughout the Midwest.


The successful candidate will be responsible for pursuing and managing INDOT and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) projects, as well as opportunities in commercial, industrial, and municipal markets. This position will include participation in industry, business, and community organizations, business development and strategic planning with a focus on growth of environmental services in the New Albany and Tri-State region.


Qualifications & Experience Requirements:            

  • BS degree in engineering or environmental related science, MS degree preferred;
  • 10+ years of experience conducting and managing environmental services for INDOT, KYTC, and other market-segment projects;
  • Professional registration preferred or ability to obtain professional registration in Indiana and Kentucky;
  • Strong technical, leadership, project management, client management, business development, and communication skills;
  • Ability to travel;
  • Commitment to safety, deadlines, budgets, and teamwork with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.


This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program.
