Position: Pipeline/HDD Project Engineer

S&ME, Inc., a leading design, engineering, environmental, and multi-disciplined professional services firm that responds to their clients with innovative, sustainable solutions, is seeking a full-time Pipeline/HDD Project Engineer for our Baton Rouge, Louisiana location.


This individual will serve as project engineer for all aspects of trenchless technology design. Responsibilities will include development of planning, design, and construction documents including feasibility evaluations, site investigation and technical reports, calculations, work plans, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for trenchless utility design projects. Additional responsibilities will include business development, client management, technical QA of reports/documents, and mentoring of staff.


The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with the local oil/gas market, as well as the desire and ability to grow our services in other markets. Qualified candidates must have a history of providing excellent client service, strong verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to work as a team player.


 Pipeline/HDD Project Engineer Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required, MS preferred;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Louisiana or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire;
  • Minimum of 6 years of pipeline/trenchless technology (specifically horizontal directional drilling, HDD) engineering design experience;
  • Experience with the local oil/gas market;
  • Experience with local agency (USACE/DOTD/Parish) requirements;
  • Working knowledge of CADD programs, and Microstation experience is a plus;
  • Working knowledge of earth slide analysis and remediation methods;
  • Working knowledge of relevant National Codes and Standards for HDD design;
  • Consulting experience preferred;
  • Ability to execute technical aspects of a wide range of projects including replacement, rehabilitation, and relocation design for mid-stream, transmission, and distribution projects in urban, suburban, and rural settings.


This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. Successful candidate must meet requirements of the company's Fleet Management Program, Substance Policy and Reference check program.
