Position:  Non Destructive Testing/Evaluation (NDT/NDE) Senior Project Manager

S&ME, Inc., a geoprofessional and design consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Construction Services Senior Project Manager for NDT/NDE projects in our Duluth, Georgia location. 

 

 

This individual is responsible for the following:

  • Serving as Senior Project Manager (or mentoring other Project Managers) for medium to large NDT/NDE and Special Inspections projects;
  • Performing field inspections of structural steel, including bolted and welded connections, and performing non-destructive testing;
  • Preparing documentation of (and mentor staff in performing) field activities, observations, and testing on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications;
  • Daily use of Metafield, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording and reporting of field observations and testing results;
  • Generating and/or reviewing field and laboratory cost estimates and proposals in accordance with projects plans and specifications, International Building Code (IBC) requirements, and client-provided requests for proposals;
  • Mentoring of other professionals and technician staff in client development and project management;
  • Development and maintenance of a local client base capable of providing sufficient revenue to achieve financial objectives established during annual business planning;
  • Coordination of local and regional business development and marketing efforts;
  • Possessing a strong understanding of effective leadership, business metrics, safety policies/procedures, human resources policies/procedures, and risk management awareness;
  • Development of relationships with peers in the local engineering and construction communities through participation in local professional organizations such as the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), American Welding Society (AWS), Associated General Contractors (AGC), and American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field of study, required;
  • CWI certification, required;
  • Level II for UT, PT, MT certifications, required, Level III preferred;
  • 15 + years of NDT/NDE experience, required;
  • A strong working knowledge of applicable ASNT and AWS standards and procedures, as well as ability to gain a working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, DOT and IBC Special Inspections;
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language, required;
  • An understanding of professionalism and tact, relative to interaction with all members of the design and construction team, including (but not limited to) site laborers, project owners, site superintendents, architects, design engineers, and project managers;
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (Company will provide Personal Protective Equipment and inclement weather gear, as appropriate);
  • Ability to work and maneuver equipment on uneven ground and around active construction sites;
  • Willingness to travel on possible extended out-of-town projects;
  • Ability to climb heights in excess of 200 feet;
  • Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 pounds.

 

 

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience.
